What are these squirrel feeders?  These feeders are designed so that you can have hours of enjoyment watching your backyard friends.  The glass jar sitting on top of the base is both functional and decorative.  You can see the squirrels when they go inside the jar and the jar also holds peanuts, or whatever squirrel food you want to give them.  When the jar is empty, you can just pick it up off of the base, put some peanuts inside and rest it back on the base.  The neck of the jar settles neatly in the hole in the front of the feeder.  If you, or some other critter, would ever break the jar, it is a standard glass jar that you can buy at a grocery store, or Sam's club.  Of course, you'll need to eat alot of pickles or jalapenos to get the jar, but they are still cheap.
The squirrel feeders are designed to be outside -- the painted ones have two coats of exterior house paint and the stained ones have two coats of polyurethane to seal them and protect the finish.  We use galvanized deck screws which are highly resistant to rust.  We also use "Liquid Nails" adhesive to hold the sides together, which is a water proof adhesive.
